Objective

Welcome to the SIA Academy e-learning system.

The inaugural module concentrates on applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding.

The purpose of this tool is to help you to achieve a successful outcome from your NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC) assessment. Within the module you will learn about the assessment process, the principles of Primary Health Need and well-managed needs, the Checklist and Decision Support Tool, and how to appeal your case if not successful first-time around.

You should take this module if you are considering applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding. SIA believes that anyone with a complete tetraplegic injury of C5/6 or above should be eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare funding.

Taking the Module

This module on NHS Continuing Healthcare is divided into seven chapters. Each chapter comprises a combination of video and/or presentations, and at the end of each chapter, there is a short quiz which will help you to consolidate your understanding.

The module will probably require around two hours to complete in full, but we suggest that you go through the module in bite-sized chunks with frequent breaks to allow you to reflect on what you have learned. It has been designed for you to go through it at your own pace, so take as long as you feel is right for you. Whenever you exit the course, your progress is automatically saved and you may resume where you left off from your dashboard.
